Always one to stay ahead I thought it best I got myself along to the stain removal training event at Texatherm this month to make sure I was still up to standard. Myself and 15 carpet cleaners in a room talking about mess all day. Perfect.

Actually it was fascinating! I learnt things that I never realised I’d want to. For example, did you know that were you to spill a cup of coffee on your carpet, whether or not you drink it with milk or sugar, will affect the type of cleaning solution required to get it out? Coffee you see, is an organic stain whilst milk is a protein. Both require different attention!

You see it’s not just the equipment that makes a good carpet clean. When talking about carpet cleaning you will hear many people say “Oh, I have a 3000 (or whatever) PSI machine attached to my truck mount etc…” – this is irrelevant. A carpet cleaning machine has one purpose– to extract water and any machine can do that with a certain amount of power. Where the expertise comes in is when you have a fully trained technician in stain removal that knows how to apply the alchemy to remove almost any stain imaginable. Be it mineral, protein or organic, among others.

Check out the results below!

Below is a picture of a stained carpet. Notably red wine, mascara, tea, coffee, foundation (make up), biro, boot polish, nail varnish, felt pen and lipstick. All these stains are made up of different components. Minerals, waxes, tannins, inks, all requiring different products to fully remove them. After full training a Floor Blimey! technician will know the components of many stains (they may ask you if they can look at the bottle of make up or how you take your tea) to be able to apply the right products to remove it easily from your carpet or upholstery. Pure alchemy.

So don’t be swayed by the size of a machine, instead talk to your technician about what they know and how they work. You’ll be surprised the knowledge that goes into carpet cleaning. That is of course, if you want the absolute best results.
