Things to consider before and after we have restored your floor…

Whilst we will do everything we can to help prepare your property for floor sanding we do ask that you do all you can before we arrive, this will help us to do the best job we can!

Before we arrive…

  • If possible make sure we can park as close as possible, we have a lot of heavy equipment.
  • Please make sure we have clear access to all of the areas we are working on.
  • We need power from safe, undamaged plug sockets!
  • Remove all items of furniture which stand on the floor, this includes fridges, washing machines and sofas, or any other obstructions such as low level shelving. We need a minimum of 2ft clearance from the floor. (we can help with all of this but please note that we do not accept any responsibility for damage caused while we help move furniture or fixtures)
  • If you have any valuables in the area please remove them. This can include paintings, curtains or ornaments, even low hanging ceiling lights should be removed as we are tall and can hit our heads on them! Our system produces very little dust, it is just incase because accidents can happen!
  • If you have pets make sure they can be kept separate from where we are working especially when we are using finishing products on the floor. We once had a cat appear through a cat flap and left footprints on a floor we had just painted!
  • Remember that floor sanding can be quite disruptive especially if we are working on an area like a hallway with heavy foot traffic. We will always try to make sure floors are dry enough to walk on at bed time but we can’t always guarantee it!

After we leave…

  • Please be over the moon with your newly restored floor!
  • You are going to want to put your rooms back together as soon as we leave but please be patient. All floors should be dry within 4-6 hours but will need longer to cure, sometimes as much as 7 days! We will advise what you can and can’t do before we leave.
  • When it’s time to move furniture back in please please DO NOT DRAG. LIFT furniture back in to the room and please make sure you have protective pads on furniture that moves such as chairs. If you can’t lift an item please ask us for advise on how to move it back into place. In the past we have used hardboard for fridges and pianos to make absolutely sure your floor isn’t damaged. But once again we are helping YOU move furniture.
  • Do not cover the floor with rugs for at least 7 days.
  • If you spill food or drink on the floor in the first 5 days, wipe it up immediately.
  • Before we leave ask us for maintenance advice and products. We have all the best ideas!
  • Enjoy you newly restored floor!
